Sailing Adventures
Discover the Joy of Sailing with Manos Yachting
Starting from Lefkada, sailors can easily reach several stunning islands like Ithaca and Kefalonia in just a few hours.
The distances between the islands are short, ensuring favorable sea conditions most of the time. In the summer,
the prevailing northwest wind picks up in the afternoon but typically dies down by evening, with only occasional exceptions.
Sunday
Lefkada to Kalamos and Kastos
On Sunday morning, after a leisurely breakfast, set sail for Kalamos Island. Kalamos boasts a variety of lovely beaches, and we suggest a swim at Asprogiali Beach on the northeast side of the island. After soaking in the waters, head toward Kastos Island for the evening. Here, you can savor fantastic fresh fish at either Belos Taverna or Port Taverna. For a relaxing end to the day, enjoy a cocktail at Mulino Bar, which offers stunning views, or head to Alex Bar if you’re in the mood for rock music. Unwind with a drink at Bar Traverso on the beach to cap off your evening.
Monday
Atokos and Ithaca
On Monday morning, depart early for Atokos Island. A must-see stop is One House Bay, where you can swim and interact with the famous black pigs that roam freely on the island. Don’t miss ringing the bell at the island’s quaint church. After enjoying Atokos, set sail for Ithaca, a mythical island steeped in history as the home of King Ulysses from Homer’s Odyssey. Ithaca is a place worth exploring for at least two days. We recommend anchoring in Fliatro Bay for your first evening on the island, where you can easily reach shore by tender. Treat yourself to dinner at the acclaimed Kirki Restaurant, named after the sorceress Circe who enchanted Ulysses. The setting is perfect for a relaxing evening under the stars.
Tuesday
Ithaca
Sail to the tranquil and picturesque Gidaki Beach, where you can enjoy the pristine surroundings. In the early afternoon, head to Kioni, one of Ithaca’s most charming villages. To ensure a good mooring spot, it’s best to arrive early. Once you’ve secured your place, explore the village and indulge in a delicious meal at Calypso Restaurant, renowned for its exceptional traditional Greek dishes. The restaurant’s name is a nod to Calypso, the nymph who kept Ulysses on her island for seven years, offering him immortality — but he chose to return home to Ithaca instead.
Wednesday
Ithaca to Kefalonia
On Wednesday morning, if the weather is favorable, set sail for Kefalonia and its charming village of Fiscardo. Before you reach Fiscardo, take a refreshing swim at Ag. Nicolas Bay on the northern coast of Ithaca. If the swell is calm, continue to the beautiful Afales Bay on Ithaca’s northwest coast. Afterward, head to Fiscardo, where you can dock and explore the village, soaking in its picturesque beauty and rich history.
Thursday
Kefalonia (Fteri Beach & Assos)
On Thursday morning, if the weather permits, head to the famous Fteri Beach on the west coast of Kefalonia. The beach is renowned for its clear waters, but make sure to check the swell conditions (it should be less than 0.3 meters for a smooth experience). If you prefer to stay near Fiscardo, there are several stunning and protected coves to explore, including Dafnoudi, Kimilia, and Foki Bay. To enjoy the day fully, we recommend making a reservation at one of the private pontoons in Syvota Bay (south of Lefkada), or at one of the many tavernas that offer free mooring if you dine there.
Friday
Return to Lefkada
Before heading back to the marina, make a few memorable stops: visit the Papanikoli Cave west of Meganissi, enjoy a swim at the serene Dessimi Bay on the east side of Lefkada, or explore Jackies Bay on the famed Skorpios Island, once owned by Aristotle Onassis. If the swell conditions are favorable, you can also visit the world-renowned beaches of Porto Katsiki, Egremni, and Mylos on Lefkada’s west coast. Finally, cross the Lefkada bridge to Agia Maura in the north, ensuring you time your arrival with the boat openings. Be sure to factor in sea conditions and timing for a smooth and enjoyable return to the marina.
